Breakfast with Santa

We headed over to Floyd Elementary's Annual "Breakfast with Santa," this morning. And we were not disappointed. Santa was awesome, plus he handed out candy. All the kids sat on his lap, without any crying involved. And we now have atleast some idea of what the girls would like for Christmas. Avalyn wants "super" skinny jeans. Briley wants a jack-in-the-box. Shallon wants pink lipstick. And Tason wants cars. ps. If anyone knows where you can get a jack-in-the-box, please let me know.

Soccer 2011

Avalyn and Briley had their soccer awards ceremony tonight.  Briley received her team trophy, plus she won a backpack and soccer ball!  Avalyn also got her team trophy, plus her whole team won the Sportsmanship Award for her division (Avalyn has won this award 3 years in a row, on 3 different teams)!  Both girls LOVE soccer, so I guess we will be sticking with this sport for a while!

Story Time Sugar

Shallon does this every week during story time at library group. Tason always sits right next to her, then she puts her arm around him and rubs his back and hair. Then she goes in for the kill, a kiss on the cheek. And Tason loves every minute of it!  They are sooooo cute!!!

Halloween 2011

We went trick-or-treating this year for the first time ever. And it was pretty fun, but very tiring!  The kids loved running around in their super hero costumes.  But by the last couple of houses, Tason was dragging his candy bucket on the ground and barely making up to the door before his sisters were flying off to the next house.  Greg dressed-up for work this year as Pauly D from the Jersey Shore.  It was a big hit with the middle-schoolers!

School Spirit/Shirt Make-over

New school, new school color, new school shirts! This year the girls are going to Hafen Elementary. And every Friday is Spirit Day and the girls are supposed to wear red.  We bought the school shirts, and as usual they are totally huge and boxy, especially on my skinny little girls.  Well this year I decided to fix that.  I just picked out a shirt that fit them and laid it out on the school shirt and then cut around the shirt that fit.  Then I just stitched up the school shirt, on the sides that I cut.  Now it is much more girly and fitted!  I even used the excess fabric from their school shirts to make them matching headbands!  The only thing that makes me sad about this picture is that Greg is not in it.  I've gotten so used to him being there with the kids at school and getting to do all the fun school things together.

Lake Mead

Thank you sooo much to our good friends, the Jolley Family, for inviting us out on their boat.  I was a little nervous at first because the kids have never been out on a boat before.  But my fears were quickly eased when there were plenty of life jackets for everyone.  And the kids took to the water like little fishies!  The kids had soooo much fun swimming around the boat and riding behind on the intertube!  We will happily return to Lake Mead anytime the Jolley's will have us! (hint, hint)

School Spirit

Every Friday is school spirit day at Mt. Charleston Elementary. The students and staff are encouraged to wear a Mt. Charleston shirt or a green shirt (school color). I love that the girls get to do this with their dad!

Briley's Kindergarten Graduation

Briley's Kindergarten graduation was tonight.  She had a great school year with a GREAT teacher!  Mrs. Englund commented often about what a good example Briley was in class, by not talking to her neighbors and staying on task.  Briley started off a little shy, but eventually made a very good friend, Silla.  Briley is very excited for first grade because she gets to stay for lunch (we'll see how long she stays excited about that).

Awards

Avalyn received a couple of end-of-the school-year awards. The first one was for earning all A's the whole school year.  She even did some extra-credit in reading to make sure that she achieved this goal.  The next 2 awards were for PE class, she completed the Ironman Challenge and she was the fast girl in 2nd grade for the mile run.  Avalyn practiced for the Ironman Challenge everyday at recess and she always updated us on her progress.  She was very excited to earn this award!  Yay, Avalyn, we are so proud of you for working hard to earn these awards!

Staff Party

The Mt. Charleston Elementary Staff had a really fun end-of-school-year get together. I'm sure that with the school closing after this year it was very bittersweet for some of the teachers that have taught there for years. In-spite of that, it was a very fun party with lots of good food, good company and kids distracted with the swimming pool! And maybe the teachers were a little distracted by the swimming pool, too!!!

Happy Memorial Day!
