Shallon's Blessing Day

We blessed Shallon today.
Grammy, Granddad and uncle Sean came to Pahrump for her special day. Shallon did really well, she was only fussy while the guys were getting in place, once her daddy started talking she quieted right down.
Grammy does something really special for each of the girls on their blessing day. She writes down the whole blessing using shorthand, then she translates it and prints it out in a pretty font for the girl's scrapbooks. We are so lucky to have such a thoughtful Grammy.

So here are the Triplets! (just kidding)

The first one is Shallon's blessing picture. Next is Briley's blessing picture. And finally Avalyn's blessing picture. Yes, it's the same dress, Grammy bought it for Avalyn's blessing and I plan on all of my girls wearing it.

Greg and Amber

Okay, so 2 different people have now tagged me with same questionnaire, also known as the "Hunky Hubby Survey". Thanks Lindsay and Amanda. I guess there are some people out there that want know about me and Greg, instead of the girls, for a change. So here are the juicy details:

1. What is your husband's name? Gregory Richard Severts

2. How long have you been married? 6 years

3. How long did you date? 6 months; we met in February, got engaged in April, and married in August.

4. How old is he? 28, he's getting soo old! :)

5. Who eats more? Unfortunately, me, unless it's fast food then it's all Greg.

6. Who said I love you first? Honestly, I have no clue, I have a terrible memory.

7. Who is taller? Greg, I'm 5'3", he's 6'

8. Who sings better? Definitely not me, I can't read music and I'm probably tone-deaf, but that doesn't stop me!

9. Who is smarter? Greg, he's a teacher! Plus, like I said earlier, I have the worst memory ever, things don't really stay in my brain very easily.

10. Whose temper is worse? Me, I'm a Scorpio!

11. Who does the laundry? Me, I'm a little anal about stain removal.

12. Who does the dishes? Both of us, we have a dishwasher, so it's not that bad. But, we still let it pile up sometimes.

13. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Greg.

14. Who pays the bills? Greg, math is not one of my strong points.

15. Who mows the lawn? Lawn, what's a lawn?!? Not only do we live in an apartment, but we live in the desert, not a lot of grass here.

16. Who cooks dinner? Me, I don't even think Greg knows how the stove works.

17. Who drives when you are together? Greg does, I have a strong dislike for driving.

18. Who is more stubborn? Me.

19. Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Greg, because I'm too stubborn.

20. Whose parents do you see the most? Greg's parents, they only live an hour away, thank goodness I love my in-laws!

21. Who proposed? Greg (see #30)

22. Who is more sensitive? I'm a totally cry-baby, I cry at sad commercials.

23. Who has more friends? I think Greg does, but I'm friends with most his friend's wives.

24. Who has more siblings? Greg does, he has 4 brothers and I have 1.

25. Who wears the pants in the family? I would like to think that we both do, but it's probably Greg.

26. Where did you meet your husband? We met at Rick's College, our friends hooked us up.

27. What was the first thing you said to your husband? He called on the phone.
Our first words:
Greg: "Hi, is Amber there?"
Me: "This is her."

28. Where was your first date? Technically, it was the Valentine's day dance at Rick's. But the night before the dance, we watched "Frequency," together at my friend's apartment, then went out for ice cream after.

29. Where was your first kiss? Greg drove me out to a church building and mentioned something about a Stake Dance. He parked in the empty parking lot, turned on some Journey and asked me to get out of the car with him. We slow danced in the parking lot and he leaned down and kissed me.

30. Where did you get engaged? Greg drove me to one of the parks in Rexburg, ID, with the intention of getting me to play tennis with him, but I resisted. So we ended up just tossing a tennis ball back and forth to each other. Then out of no where, he tells me to make sure I catch this one (I had caught the ball every time so far, so I was a little miffed). When I caught the ball it rattled, so I frantically squeezed the ball looking for the opening to see what was inside. When the ring dropped out in my hand, Greg was on his knee.

31. Where were you married? the Denver Colorado Temple.

32. Where was the honeymoon? Chandler, Arizona (my grandma Kay, got us a time-share condo there for the week.)

33. If you could have changed anything about it what would it have been? Nothing! All the matters for a honeymoon is that you're together! (thanks for the great answer Linds)

Tag you're it:
Vanessa Skinner, Heidi Castle, and Teri Grange
Now you just have to copy the questions, answer them, post it, then tag 3 more people.

1 month!

Ok, so how did a month go by already?!?! Shallon is a month old today. I can't believe how fast this past month has gone by. It feels like that crazy, almost-had-a-baby-in-the-car day, was yesterday (ok maybe not yesterday, but definitely like last week), not a month ago.
Here's our sweet princess at her one month-old photo shoot.

We can hardly take a picture of Shallon without Avalyn jumping in the shot. Future modeling career or extreme need to be near her baby sister at all times...

paint nails...

The girls call fingernail polish "paint nails," it's soo cute. So when I read online the other day that dark purple was the hot fall color in "paint nails," I had to run out and get us some. We are a house full of girls after all. Here are the results, baby Shallon even got her first manicure.

Conference Sunday

I printed off some conference related worksheets for Avalyn and Briley to work on during the broadcast. Our favorite worksheet was a tie coloring one, where you find the picture of who was speaking and color the blank tie below to match. The worksheets kept them busy, and Greg and I were actually able to pay attention, most of the time. Now, if only Shallon could be distracted by worksheets.

Fall Festival

Pahrump's annual Fall Festival started today. Thursday night is family night, parents ride free with a payed for child pass, it's the best night to go. There are no lines for any of the rides and all the LDS families go on Thursday, so you run into people you know. We met up with some of our friends, the Tackett's and the Parson's. Avalyn and Briley had so much fun riding the rides with their friends.

I don't know what's up with Briley's serious face, at least Avalyn's smiling.

Rylan and Alyssa Tackett with Avalyn.
Briley didn't want to get off the ride.

thumbs are yummy

These are the first pictures of Shallon sucking her thumb. Avalyn was a thumb sucker, also. I don't think that I really knew to appreciate the joys of having a thumb sucking baby, until my second came along without that thumb sucking desire. I love thumb sucking babies, not only because of the insane cuteness, but because of their independence in soothing themselves. Plus, no frantic searching for the elusive binky and no bulk purchases of back-up binkies.

I love the face guard thumb-sucking.
Does she feel the need to protect herself while she enjoys her tasty treat?

Sunday Morning

Here are some pictures of the girls this morning.
This is the first time that we have been able to get Briley anywhere near Shallon. Briley likes to admire her new baby sister from a distance, with cute little phrase like, "Shallon cute."
Avalyn on the other hand is Shallon's mini-mommy! She wants to constantly hold her and touch her and give her kisses.

I forgot to post Shallon's stats in the last post, so here we go:

Shallon McAllister Severts
was born Friday, September 21st 2007
at 8:13 am.
She weighed in at 7 lbs 8 ozs
and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Shallon McAllister Severts!

What a crazy day!!! So, I woke up at about 6am with pretty strong contractions. Greg and I are newbies when it comes to contractions (my water broke with our first 2). We were trying to decide if this was the real thing or just a false alarm. So the call was made to the doctor and she thought that we should come in. But, we still weren't convinced that we should make the hour drive into Las Vegas and have Greg miss school. The contractions were pretty bad, but it could be another false alarm. I decided to hop in the shower while we were deciding what to do. The contractions were really intense by now, so we decided to go. We think this is it! It's about 7am now. Greg gets the girls up and in the car and calls his brother Sean to meet us at the hospital. Of course, we are having our once a year rain storm here in the desert and we have an hour drive ahead of us. The contractions are getting more and more intense and little did I know... I'm a screamer! The pain was unbearable. The girls are in the back seat plugging their ears, Greg is driving like a crazy person and I'm convinced that we are going to have the baby in the car. When we are a few blocks from the hospital I can feel the baby's head and I am having intense urges to push. Greg pulls up to the front door and runs in to get help. The security guard brings a wheelchair and keeps telling Greg to just leave the car and come with us and Greg is trying to explain that our 2 other kids are in the car. We leave Greg and the guard runs me up to Labor and Delivery and apparently I was screaming still, but I don't remember. We get up to Labor and Delivery and the nurses get me in the bed and check me. I'm fully dilated, so there's no time for any drugs. The nurses call my doctor, but she doesn't think she'll make it. All the while I'm being told not to push. I totally ignore the nurses and push anyways. Greg has to wait in the lobby until Sean gets here to watch Avalyn and Briley. Finally, Greg steps in the room just in time, 1 push and the baby's head is out, 1 more push and Shallon was born at 8:13 am.

My sweet brother-in-law Sean left school illegally so that he could help out with the girls. Sean was at school when Greg called him to come meet us. His school has a closed campus, so he couldn't leave without permission. We couldn't get a hold of Jan to get permission for Sean, so he just left. The attendance secretary told him to stay put, but he took off anyways. What a life saver! Greg would have missed Shallon's birth, if Sean hadn't gotten to the hospital just in time (it didn't help that he went to the wrong hospital either, but it's not his fault, there are three hospitals within 5 miles of each other).

Mini-me Meter

Ok, so I finally rigged Briley's meter for the correct outcome. (All you have to do is pick the right pictures.) I'm still working on Avalyn's. As soon as I get it to say that she looks like Greg, I'll post it.

New belly shot

Here I am at almost 39 weeks. Yes, my shirt is stretched out as far as it can possibly go, as are all my maternity clothes. I can barely keep my stomach covered, if I were a celebrity that would be very trendy, but I'm not.

Future Drill Teamers

Tonight, I was working on transferring my high school Drill Team videos onto DVD. The girls heard the music and came in to watch. They started jumping around trying to imitate the moves. It was sooo cute, I had to snap a few shots.

Ballet

Avalyn also started ballet today. It's every Wednesday for a 1/2 an hour. She had soo much fun! She learned 1st position and how to curtsy. It's really nice that some of her preschool friends are in her ballet class. Here are some cute pictures of the girls in their leotards.

Makayla, Alexis, Avalyn and Alexa

1st Day

Today was Avalyn's first day back to preschool. And everything went soo smoothly. Avalyn woke-up all on her own 15 minutes before I was planning on waking her up. We got everything accomplished this morning that we wanted to, without any problems. I'm probably jinxing myself, but it was a perfect morning.

Labor Day Weekend

We spent our holiday weekend with our good friends, the Leavitt's, at their home in Arizona. We have known Brad and Corina since our Utah days. They have 2 girls, Vanessa and Daniela, that are close to Avalyn and Briley's age. Our girls had a blast with their "new" friends. And it was really nice to catch-up with Brad and Corina, we hadn't seen them in a while.

These are some pictures of Greg and Brad helping the girls cool off.

More AZ Fun...

Near the Leavitt's home is this cute park with mini-amusement rides. The girls had soo much fun. There was a little train ride that went around the park, a miniature ferris wheel and a few other rides especially for the kids.

This is my favorite picture, the girls faces are priceless!
