Kindergarten!!!

Avalyn's in Kindergarten now. Where does the time go? Wasn't she just born yesterday?! Ok fine, it was 5 years ago, but it seems like yesterday!

Avalyn's teacher is one of our really good friends. So we had to prep Avalyn a little on calling her teacher Mrs. Dean, not JoAnn, at school.

Avalyn had a great first day. She got to wear her new Hannah Montana shirt. And her brand new, pink backpack, all loaded up with a jacket. Best of all she got to ride all the way (5 mins.) to school with dad, on his moped! She was soo excited!!

I can't believe how fast my little princess is growing up!

birthday bowling

On Avalyn and Briley's actual birthday, they got to pick the dinner location. We had dinner at McDonald's, of course.

Then we hit up the local bowling alley, for some good ol' family bowling. We have never done this with the girls before. I really think that they had fun. Briley favorite part was when her "ball hit it (the pin)." Avalyn's favorite part was when she "winned mommy!" Yes, my 5 year-old is a better bowler than me, I will admit it.

little rockstars

Briley got the guitar for her birthday. Both girls got Hannah Montana microphones. And here they are putting their new toys to good use. I love how they include Shallon in
their little performances. We definitely have some rockstars in the making! How does "The Severts' Sisters" sound???

snuggles

This photo was totally staged, I will admit it. But doesn’t Shallon look sooo cute all snuggled up with her new little lamb? Sleeping babies are the best!

completely unique

So I think our little Shallon is trying to do everything just a little differently than most babies. Not only does she crawl using the one-legged-scoot method, but now she does this cute twisty-wrist wave. And she sucks her LEFT thumb. Not that being left-handed is super unique, I know that there are lots of lefty's out there. But it's just one more thing, that helps her stand out from the blur of being the 3rd daughter.

the bike

Here's the 1st bike ride and another ride a little later:

Avalyn finally got her first bike for her birthday this year. She has wanted one for quite some time now. But, we've never really had anywhere for her to ride a bike until now. We just love our quiet little neighborhood.

Celebrate...

and

It's birthday time at our house. We had a family party this year for Avalyn and Briley. After last years double party extravaganza, I have decided every other year will be good for big friend parties. So, this year we tried to keep it low key and do a family party. It was great Nana was in town, and Grammy & Granddad came with uncles Kevin and Sean. Most of all Avalyn and Briley loved their party.

Ok, I took a lot of pictures so there were a lot to choose from. I had a hard time deciding and I didn't want to go into photo overload, so I attempted to make scrapbook pages. I'm still new at this whole digital scrapbooking thing. So I guess, let me know what you think.

There was 1 other picture that I just loved but couldn't get it to fit on the scrapbook pages. We love you uncle Sean!

Nana

Nana came to visit, all the way from Washington state. We had soo much fun with her. And we wish that she didn't live quite sooo far away! But since she does live far away, we definitely got super spoiled while she was here. We stayed 2 nights in Las Vegas and did some major shopping. We also hit up the new Home Depot here in town a few times. And of course picked up some things at our local Wal-Mart. I love shopping and luckily my mom kinda likes it too!

But I really love having my mom around and I love seeing her with my girls! I just wish that it was more often. As you can see, Shallon just adores her Nana. We miss you, Nana! Come back soon!

jump in...

I promise, my girls don't always play nicely together. But when they do I really try to capture the rare moment. Avalyn and Briley taught Shallon how to twirl the jump rope. It's pretty cute!

Party of 3! (update, part 3)

I love it when the girls can play all together, nicely. Especially now that Shallon's getting bigger and wants to play with the big girls. I was in the other room and this is what I found when I went to check on them. Soo cute! I love my girls!

Our little skinny dippers! The girls just love Grammy and Granddad's giant hottub. Usually, they wear swimsuits.

Update...(part 1)

Sorry I guess that we took a little unexpected vacation from blogging. So much has been going on, so sit back for some major updating!

We are still working on the house. This is me spray painting the girls bedroom furniture. Grammy, Greg and Sean, all helped me with this project, but oddly enough the only pictures that I have, are of ME (weird)!

Ok, so I have decided to break this up into parts.

(stay continued!)

house update...

So, one of the first things that we wanted to do, to our new home, was get some color on those white walls!!! We now have a perfectly PINK girls bedroom, a lemony yellow kitchen, a sage green master bedroom, and our great room is a gorgeous brown with a darker brown in the entertainment center cut-out. Grammy was very helpful when it came to narrowing down the color choices. And Granddad not only picked out our beautiful ceiling fans, but he installed all 5 of them. We were sooo lucky to have them come over and help us get settled in. As you can see Shallon was also a big help!

New Camera!!!

Thank you, mom! After hearing all about my camera troubles, my super sweet mom offered to give us her awesome camera. I love my mom soooo much! The camera arrived a few days ago and I have been taking it everywhere. So stay tuned for some major updating...

Ok, so the camera is still broken. But pictures of our house were uploaded on the concordia website today. Here's the link for anyone who's interested: http://www.myconcordiahome.com/pleasantvalley/severts/
These are pictures from before we moved in. So pictures of our personal touches are still to come!

Camera Trouble

Ahhhh!!!! I broke our camera. I'm sooo upset. I can't even get the pictures off of it, that I took of the inside of the new house. I'm totally freaking out!

Sorry, I just needed to vent. Hopefully, we will be able to fix this terrible situation very soon.

Family Photo Shoot

Here are the pictures that cousin Val took of our family at the reunion. It was super hard to pick out the ones that we liked the best because they were all soo good. Thank you sooo much for the amazing pictures Val!!!

The whole family.

Grammy and Granddad.

Our fam.

Our sweet baby.

Reunion

We had an awesome family reunion this weekend in Bryce Canyon, with Greg's mom's side of the family. Of course I am totally lame and did not take a single picture and I don't even have an excuse because I did bring my camera, I just didn't take any pictures. Luckily I have some amazing sister-in-laws that did actually take pictures. Thanks Natalie for taking the picture of our family by the waterfall.

We did a little hike up to a mossy cave. Here's Avalyn and Tucker in the cave. And then we hiked down to this water fall (see fam pic). It was a nice, easy hike for the kids (ME). And it was fun to hang out with Ryan and Paul and their families.

Other fun moments not photographed: Newlywed Game, yummy buffets, kids craft/lawn games, late night card games and family photo shoot with cousin Val (photos coming soon).

We already miss everyone soo much, it went by way too fast. We can't wait for the next reunion in 3 years!

Summerlin Pool

The community pool by Grammy's house is soo fun. There is a little slide for the girls and a big slide for the bigger kids (Greg and Grammy). And my favorite part is the beach entry where Shallon can sit and play. I love summer!

Mermaids

The girls just hanging out in Grammy and Granddad's hot tub.

baby legs

Now that Shallon is a crawler, her knees are getting pretty roughed up. I found these cute leg warmers online, but they are a little pricey. One of the other babies at playgroup had some on and her mom told me that she made them out of knee high socks. Here is my attempt. I think that they turned out pretty cute. On a side note Shallon loves Sadie (the dog in the picture). When Sadie is in sight, Shallon crawls at warp speed towards her. And Sadie is actually very tolerant of Shallon's attempts to hold on to her fur.

And she's off...

Here's a Shallon update:

Dada is her favorite word, she says it all the time. It's my own fault, I wanted her to learn dada. If she is asking for Greg then I get a break right?

ps. I'm unsuccessfully trying to show off her 2 new teeth at the end of the video.

Shallon is now a crawler. You can see in the video, that she is an unconventional crawler. She uses one foot and drags her other leg. We are hopeful that she will figure out the whole hand, knee thing eventually. :)

ps. I know that the sound isn't working correctly, but I don't know what to do about it. Sorry, you get the idea though, right?

Photo Shoot

My friend, Kathryn, offered to take some updated pictures of the girls. As you can see she did an amazing job, the pictures turned out really good. Soo good, that I had a hard time picking out my favorites. These are the ones that made the cut.

29.

29 Things about Greg Severts

1. I call him Babe. I know it’s nothing unique.
2. It is his 29th birthday today.
3. I have lived with him for almost 8 years now, ever since we got hitched. And I have loved every second of it.
4. He is soo handsome.
5. One of his defining features is his curly hair. I love it when he grows it out a little.
6. And his gorgeous BLUE eyes. I am soo glad that some of our daughters have them too.
7. He is very romantic. When we were dating and first married; he would leave little notes, with sweet things written on them, around for me to find. I loved it. (hint, hint)
8. He is HA-larious. That’s was what hooked me in; I was giggling the whole 2 month long courtship. And have continued giggly ever since.
9. He has an amazing family. I am soo lucky to have such great in-laws.
10. He has always slept with a pillow between his knees. If he is unable to find some sort of pillow, I am afraid that no one will sleep until an extra pillow can be found.
11. He loves Mt. Dew, but he will usually hold off until we are on a road trip.
12. He loves sports.
13. That is an understatement. Not only does he like to play sports, but he likes to watch sports and he likes to talk about sports and he likes to watch people talk about sports and… if it has to do with sports he loves it.
14. When Greg proposed to me he wanted to do it by playing tennis and he hid my ring in the tennis ball.
15. He plays pick-up basketball sometimes twice a week.
16. He also plays in an indoor hockey league, though he is taking this season off.
17. He is a 3rd grade school teacher. He loves his job and he LOVES the kids.
18. The love is mutual. When his students see him at Wal-Mart or at a restaurant, they get embarrassed, but always say, "Hi Mr. Severts."
19. He drives a Moped to school and I think he likes it.
20. He is an aggressive driver; he gets that from his mom.
21. He is always offering to help with anything and everything. At a party, you can find him in the kitchen scrubbing something.
22. He has a strong testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
23. And a strong desire to do the right thing.
24. He is the world’s best husband.
25. He is very sensitive to my needs, he is always helping out with the girls, he knows when to take the girls for a little outing so I can have a break.
26. He is an amazing father.
27. He changes diapers and helps out during potty-training.
28. The girls love it when he does Underdog to them on the swings.
29. And last but not least, he is my best friend.

Happy Birthday Babe! I love you!

Preschool, Graduation!

Avalyn has officially graduated from preschool today. The program was soo cute. The kids sang a few songs; the yellow song, the days of the week song, and the months song. There was also a really cute slide show of pictures taken through-out the school year.

Avalyn is pretty excited about starting AM Kindergarten next year, at Floyd Elementary School (with her daddy). Go Bobcats!
